Zamzam has been providing monthly financial support to the needy like widows, the aged, etc. since inception but could not establish the needed criteria to follow for known reasons. Selection of beneficiaries is made on the basis of information collected through field workers and as we are working on behalf of the donors we try to give importance to their choices as well.
The norm is that an NGO should follow specific & well-balanced criteria in selecting beneficiaries. The locations should not also be scattered; the concentration of beneficiaries is needed for operational efficiency because the bigger the area of operation higher the administrative cost. At present Zamzam is providing support to 127 needy families spreading over 5 Upozillas in 2 Districts. So, in addition to overhead costs extra effort is also needed for supervisory control.
