The doctor-patient ratio in Bangladesh is very low and as such access to medical treatment is limited for ordinary people. the lack of nurses/para-medics is also another big hurdle to effective healthcare. Considering the misery and plight of fellow human beings Zamzam took up this project and to date has set up four medical centers spread over 4- Upozillas of 4 Districts. The doctors attend the centers once a week for 2 to 21/2 hours and examine & provide advice to about 30 patients a day on average in one center. Patients are given available medicines free of cost; and the doctors usually refer serious patients, if there are any, to public hospitals.
